There have been three separate explosions near the unofficial border between Georgia and its breakaway republic of South Ossetia. Two Georgian policemen were injured in one of the blasts, one of whom is in a serious condition.
A bomb exploded metres away from a moving column of Georgian military vehicles. It's believed that the bomb was detonated by remote control. Earlier, a school was damaged in a separate blast, although no one was injured. The third incident happened near the village of Nikozi, where a mine went off, injuring one person. Georgian and South Ossetian authorities have called the incidents a 'provocation.' Russian, Georgian and South Ossetian peacekeepers have patrolled the unofficial border since the ceasefire, following armed conflict over the breakaway republic's declaration of independence.
