In the latest wave of violence in Lebanon, a car bomb has killed ten people, among them a leading anti-Syrian politician. Walid Eido was travelling in a car in the centre of Beirut when it was destroyed by the explosion.

Supporters of the slain politician have blamed Damascus for the attack.  The bombing has been condemned by the United Nations, the U.S., Britain, France and the EU.  The attack comes as the Lebanese army continues its battle against militants in a Palestinian refugee camp, in the north of the country. Meanwhile, Lebanese President Emile Lahoud said to RT that if the Lebanese are not pressured from the outside, they will come to an agreement.
