Black-out in Kaliningrad region

Dozens of villages have been left without power in the Kaliningrad region in north-west Russia after a severe storm tore down electricity pylons. The Emergencies Ministry says almost 100 power plants have done off-line leaving thousands without electricit

The village of Prigolsky has been cut off by flood waters. Military trucks are the only vehicles able to get into the hamlet. And in Kaliningrad itself the operation of the port is blocked with no ships being able to enter or leave. The weathermen say the storm is expected to abate during Sunday.
