A ban on hunting has been implemented in Russia's Far Eastern Primorsky region after the deadly bird flu virus was found on a local farm. Also, a quarantine has been in put place in the area, and all domestic birds are being vaccinated.

Several fowl were reported dead on a private homestead in Vozdvizhenka village last week. Tests showed they had died of the H5N1 bird flu virus. Specialists suggest it could have been brought into the area by wild fowl as the owner of the farm fed his poultry the insides of birds he had killed hunting.
