Although the Berlin wall fell 20 years ago, Germany still remains divided, journalist and historian Jurgen Elsaesser told RT.

“Twenty years after, we have a big ceremony here but behind the curtain the country is still split into West and East, and we did not have a real unification,” Elsaesser said.

The influence of the Berlin Wall still echoes across Germany, with many people moving from Eastern parts to West where there are more job opportunities and salaries are higher, says journalist Matias Shepp from the German current affairs magazine Der Spiegel.

"Germany psychologicaly is not really united even after 20 years the fall of the Berlin Wall," he told RT.
