Self-exiled Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky has called the espionage case opened by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) following allegations made by a Russian businessman Andrey Lugovoy – a “covering operation”.
Andrey Lugovoy, the main suspect of the UK in the poisoning case of the former Russian security officer, Aleksandr Litvinenko, in London – said that Mr Litvinenko and Berezovsky were agents of MI6 – Britain's foreign intelligence agency. He says they wanted him to collect information against Russia’s top officials. Soon after the claim, the Russian Federal Security Service opened a criminal case into the matter. In an interview to the Kommersant newspaper, Boris Berezovsky said that Russian investigators just cannot find a way to acquit Andrey Lugovoy, and are trying to cover him by opening new cases.
