Around 3,000 people took to the streets in the Belarusian capital, Minsk. Those taking part voiced their greatest aspiration – to become part of the European Union.

They say they are sure the EU is ready to accept the Belarusian people, but not the country's authoritarian leadership. Although the meeting in the centre of Minsk was unauthorised, no serious clashes were reported. The demonstrators got only warnings from police and no one was arrested.
