The Russian government has lifted the ban on imports into Chechnya as part of its efforts to wind down its counter-terrorism operation in the region.
The new decree signed by Vladimir Putin will mean no more restrictions for cargo entering the southern Russian republic – either by land or via its airport in the capital Grozny which was opened for international flights last year.
It comes on the heels of the appointment of a new presidential envoy to Russia's North Caucasus whose job is to deal with economic and security issues in the area.
