The first aircraft is heading back to the Kamchatka peninsula in Russia’s Far East, after all air transportation to the region was suspended due to extreme weather.
Although the strong winds that have been blasting the area have abated, meteorologists say the stormy weather will remain until Friday.An avalanche has been reported in the region’s centre, fortunately, causing no casualties.However, rescue services have warned, with such heavy snow, there may be more snowslides across the peninsula.
