At least 12 people, including five United Nations personnel, have been killed in an attack on a UN guest house in the Afghan capital Kabul.
“At least three armed attackers started shooting outside a private guest house that is approved for UN staff residential purposes.” Siddique explained.
“The gunmen entered the guest house, shooting. There was at least one suicide attacker,” he added.
“Tragically, five of our international staff members have been killed in this incident,” Siddique said.
Police say the situation is under control, after militants barricaded themselves inside.
Meanwhile, rockets were fired at a luxury hotel and at the nearby presidential palace, although no injuries have been reported.
