Russia’s army is planning to rely on nanotechnologies and recruits in its development until 2030. Some future details about army reforms were revealed by an unnamed source in Russia’s Defence ministry to Russian news website Gazeta.ru.
The concept consists of two parts. The first is dedicated to the geopolitical role of Russia in the modern world. The second consists of a list of practical reforms planned for the country’s military. The authors of the project think that in the coming 22 years the most important role in the Russian army’s development would belong to information and space technologies as well as nanotechnologies. Gazeta.ru reports that they also plan to optimise the quantity of officer personnel and keep using both recruits an contract soldiers. According to the project, in conflict situations the Russian army’s actions would consist of four steps. At first, it’ll lead the information war. Then offer the enemy a peace treaty at the early stage of conflict. If these measures won’t help the third step, which is a full scale use of force, will be inevitable. And step four would be reestablishment of relation with the enemy after the conflict. Some military subdivisions which now carry out similar tasks will be dismissed. A united system to control the forces will be created within the army. And the new informational system will let the military scientists work a lot more effective. The Russian army will continue to count on a deterrent force such as underwater weapon carriers, strategic bombers and ground, water and air based rockets, with nuclear warheads. It’s said that the work on the project will be finished till autumn. President Medvedev’s signature may appear on it in the end of the year.
