A dozen people have been injured and 20 detained in renewed clashes between police and protesters demanding the postponement of elections in Bangladesh. The mass fight has been broken up by police.

Riot police used tear gas and batons in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka to disperse thousands of demonstrators throwing stones.   They protested against election officials, saying they were biased towards former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.   Diplomats fear the country is heading towards a period of serious political instability.
