2 police injured in grenade attack in southern Russia

Two Russian police officers were injured by a grenade blast as they attempted to detain terrorist suspects in the southern Republic of Ingushetia. The two perpetrators were killed by return fire.

The policemen were taken to hospital with multiple shrapnel wounds to their hands and legs, a source told TASS. “They remain conscious. Their condition is of moderate severity, non-critical,” he added.

The Ingushetia police have confirmed that two of its servicemen were injured outside a shopping center in the city of Nazran on Wednesday.

The officers were trying to detain two men, who resisted arrest and threw a grenade at them. The suspects were then shot dead by return fire, the police said.

The perpetrators have been identified, a source told Tass. He didn’t reveal their names but said that they were “both residents of Ingushetia."
