A double-decker Boeing 747 with one malfunctioning engine has successfully landed in Moscow Vnukovo Airport. It was carrying around 500 Russian tourists, according to Interfax.

The huge Rossiya Airlines plane managed to safely land in after one of its four engines reportedly had failed mid-flight around 1pm local time on Tuesday. The plane took off from Larnaca, a popular tourists destination in Cyprus.

Technical specifications of the aircraft made it possible fly to Moscow with three working engines, a source told Interfax.

"About 500 Russian tourists from different regions of the country were on board the aircraft,” Interfax reported citing the source. It added that the crew decided to switch off one of the engines and kept the situation under control.
