Borscht avec goat cheese & caviar on menu for Putin-Macron dinner

State visits are not only about food for thought, but actual food as well, with caviar, sturgeon, venison and cold borscht with goat cheese revealed on the menu for Vladimir Putin’s dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The meal shared by the two leaders at the Konstantinovsky Palace outside Saint Petersburg on Thursday featured a variety of Russian delicacies, including crepes (pancakes) with black caviar, a crab appetizer, cold borscht (beetroot soup) with goat cheese that is so much favored by the French, along with sturgeon steak with fennel and venison with artichokes.

Apples in caramel and chocolate cake were offered to the Russian president’s guests as desert, according to the menu shared by journalists on Twitter, with Chardonnay and Merlot wines from Russia’s renowned Abrau-Durso winery on the tables to wash the delicious treats down.
