If your life lacks meaning because you’ve never heard a Russian cover of the catchiest song of 2017, we have good news. Now there is a version of the Puerto Rican hit Despacito played by Siberian men in a snowy forest with traditional Russian instruments.
The single by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee took the world by storm this year, with dozens (possibly hundreds) of cover versions available online. The version by three guys from Novosibirsk may not be as original as the one made from snores, but it does feature various Russian folk instruments: the balalaika, the bayan (a type of accordion), wooden spoons, and the zhaleika – a hornpipe.
