Massive fire breaks in Dubai luxury tower (PHOTOS, VIDEOS)

A huge fire has broken in a luxury tower block under construction in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, with photos and videos on social media showing the blaze.

A spokesman for Skai Holdings, which is constructing the Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village tower, confirmed the blaze, while he added that the fire had engulfed the top floor of the building.

Soon after the first reports of the fire, videos and photos were posted on social media of a second blaze near the Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village.

Gulf News reported that no one was injured in the blaze, adding that firefighters managed to bring the fire under control some five hours after it started.

The Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village, is another ambitious project in Dubai, which will feature 247 hotel rooms and suites, including apartments with private pools, according to the project’s website.

“Soaring 888 feet [270 meters] above the exclusive Jumeirah enclave, Viceroy Jumeirah Village Dubai is poised as a groundbreaking, gleaming marquee of innovative architecture and unprecedented indulgences,” the developers say.

The project of the 60-storey tower is set to be complete by 2018.
