Skyscraper on fire in Dubai (VIDEOS, PHOTOS)

A fire has broken out in Sulafa Tower, a skyscraper in the Dubai Marina, United Arab Emirates. Videos showing the 75-story structure engulfed in smoke have been flooding Twitter.

Videos filmed by onlookers also show debris falling from the side of the residential building. Local media report that the fire started on the 35th floor, citing an official at Dubai Civil Defense.

The official also said the call informing the department about the fire was received at 2.48pm local time.

Crews from several emergency stations have been dispatched to the scene.

The fire has now been completely put out, Dubai Media Office reports. It took firefighters almost three hours to tackle the flames.

Dubai Media Office reports that all residents of the tower have been evacuated. No casualties have been reported. 

According to eyewitnesses, police and firefighters have arrived at the scene and are currently battling the blaze. Some witnesses state that the fire has spread across at least 15 floors. Traffic in the surrounding streets is said to be at a standstill.

Sulafa Tower was built in 2010 and has a total height of 285 meters. It the 23rd-tallest building in Dubai and 127th-tallest in the world.
