Photographers from Samara, a city in central Russia, have figured out a way to attract the authorities’ attention to the region’s notoriously bumpy roads: by staging mock battles in the potholes on the streets.

They put toy troops, both the traditional ones and Lego figurines, as well as cars and motorcycles, near and into the holes in the city’s roads.

In the second part of the project, photographers Aleksandr Shadrin and Grigory Lyapin staged a road accident, using Star Wars figurines and a car.

Nicely played, indeed!

It’s far from the first time the city’s population has complained about the state of the roads: in February, local poet Aleksandr Gutin wrote an address to Samara’s authorities. In response, city mayor Oleg Fursov reported the poem to the police.
