Check out a new video showing ‘superhero’ aerobatic stunts performed by the female Pilot of the Century, and probably the most beautiful Russian pilot, Svetlana Kapanina. The almost magic maneuvers were recorded by RT at an airstrip near Moscow.
The most honored aviatrix ever, Kapanina enjoys flying her Sukhoi plane, which she tenderly calls “a swallow.”

Kapanina has been performing as an aerobatic display pilot since 1988 and over that time has won the Women’s World Aerobatic Champion title seven times, including as recently as 2011 – more than any other pilot in the category. She has also been a World Championship gold medalist 39 times.
At her very first World Championship in South Africa in 1995, she was the only female participant among 44 pilots, coming second in the medal standings.
Kapanina was awarded the Paul Tissandier Diploma by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) in 1997. She was also given the Sabiha Gökçen Medaland the Centenary Medal by the FAI.
