The world's second-largest liquor producer Pernod Ricard is buying the Stolichnaya vodka brand from Russia's SPI Group. Thus the company shows its commitment to continue struggling for Russian and American alcohol markets.

Last year Paris-based beverages giant Pernod Ricard acquired Stolichnaya distribution rights through 2010  when it bought competitor Allied Domecq. Pernod is hoping Stolichnaya, the third-most-popular vodka in the United States, will help it gain a foothold in the U.S. market.
