The 5th annual Energy Forum is taking place in Moscow. The four-day event is focused on the future of energy production in Russia, with the aim of agreeing on proposals which can be made into law.
Attracting investments to the development of Russia's fuel and energy sector is topping the agenda at the Energy Forum this week. The country's oil and gas elite along with top politicians are considering strategies for the development of Russia's booming energy sector. The leadership of Russia’s gas giant, Gazprom, has announced their plans for the future of the company – which they would like to see as the world’s largest energy company. To meet the objective the company is now seeking to diversify its operations. Matters concerning International energy co-operation are an ongoing topic for discussion, along with legislative support for structural reforms of the energy sector. The Deputy Prime Minister, Sergey Naryshkin, pointed out that Russia's energy can be used as a form of argument in foreign policy. ‘The fuel and energy sector of the Russian energy sphere is our serious resource and our serious argument in our economic activity abroad, in our foreign policy. But the Russian government and the Russian Federation will use this argument without any political speculations or any political pressure,’ he claimed. Round table discussions on the state of and future of the coal market and effective uses of subsoil resources are also on the agenda.The Forum will continue over the next three days when delegations and ministers will intensively discuss the future of Russia's energy.
