New railway to connect Russia & North Korea

An international consortium will connect the Trans-Siberian and Trans-Korean railways through North Korea. The head of Russian Railways says freighters from South Korea, Italy, Germany and Japan might participate in the project.

According to he head of Russian Railways, Vladimir Yakunin, the reconstruction of the railroad between the North Korean city of Rajin and the Russian city of Khassan is due to start this year. He also says the project will include serious renovation of railways in North Korea, which may cost up to $US 7 BLN in investment.
