President of Norilsk Nickel, Mikhail Prokhorov, has announced he will leave his office. He said this is because of the decision to create a new company on the basis of Norilsk Nickel's energy assets, which he said creates a conflict of interest.

As a new candidate for this post Mr Prokhorov proposed Denis Morozov, who is currently head of gold-miner Polyus Zoloto.
