The Russian economy and the road ahead

Russian Finance Minister, Aleksey Kudrin, has addressed the outlook for the Russian economy, the Russian budget, WTO accession, and the interaction between the political process and economic reform at a wide ranging speech in the United States.

Speaking at the Russian Forum held at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, First Deputy Prime Minister Kudrin covered the relationship between the crude price and a balanced Russian budget, the need to defer some budgetary measures until after the Presidential election and the likely timeframe for Russian WTO accession.
