Battle over Lufthansa`s refuelling hub

The German airline Lufthansa says it's not yet made a decision about moving its cargo-plane refuelling hub from Kazakhstan to Krasnoyarsk in Siberia. The company stressed any relocation should be kept separate from the issue of Russian overflight rights.

Russia banned Lufthansa cargo planes from flying over the country at the end of October, in an effort to make the company shift the refuelling site to Krasnoyarsk. The ban was suspended for two weeks to give both parties time to negotiate. Krasnoyarsk lacks the modern airport approach aids that would let aircraft land safely in bad visibility.
