One of the world’s busiest stock markets, the London Stock Exchange (LSE), failed to open on time on Thursday.
Europe’s biggest trading venue commonly starts working at 8:00am London time each weekday. Thursday’s opening session was launched an hour later at 9:00am.
The opening bell was held up due to an issue with pricing data, according to a spokesperson for the LSE. Shortly after the exchange opened, the benchmark FTSE 100 index was up 0.28 percent.
The exchange still has no information on what exactly caused the glitch that caused the disruption of trading at one of the world’s busiest financial centers.
The LSE is not the only bourse to face similar technical issues in recent months. In May, Euronext, the first pan-European exchange, was challenged with a problem publishing major indices, including the French Cac 40. In March, equities and futures trading on Germany’s Deutsche Burse failed to start on time amid “technical issues” with its trading system.
