The Russian Embassy in Pretoria has congratulated South African singer Tyla on her recent Grammy Award win, applauding her continued success and contributions to African music and culture.
In a message shared on its official social media platforms, the embassy said it “warmly congratulates South African singer Tyla on winning the GRAMMY Award”, adding that it wished her “continued creative success and new achievements that showcase the richness of African music and culture.”
As reported by IOL, Tyla secured her second Grammy Award after winning Best African Music Performance at the Grammy Awards for her hit single Push 2 Start. The win follows her 2024 victory in the same category for the chart-topping song Water, making her one of the few artists to have won the award more than once since the category was introduced.
IOL reported that Tyla’s back-to-back Grammy wins have been widely celebrated as a major milestone for South African music, highlighting the growing global appetite for African sounds and artists. Her latest win came amid strong competition from some of the continent’s biggest names, further underscoring the significance of the achievement.
Following her Grammy success, Tyla also confirmed the title of her upcoming second studio album, A-Pop, which is expected to build on her international breakthrough and expand her musical reach.
The message from the Russian Embassy in South Africa adds to a wave of international recognition for the singer, reflecting how her success continues to resonate beyond the music industry and positions her as a cultural ambassador for South Africa and the African continent.
