Russian FC Lokomotiv and Uruguayan Peñarol advance to phygital football final at Games of the Future

The semi-final matches of the phygital football tournament at the Games of the Future, currently taking place in Kazan, have come to an end.

After the digital stage, Lokomotiv took to the physical pitch with a four-goal lead and managed to maintain their advantage despite pressure from Phoenix. Semifinal results:

FC Lokomotiv (Russia) vs Phoenix (Russia)– 8-4 (7-3 simulator, 1-1 physical);
Peñarol (Uruguay) vs México Quetzales (Mexico) – 7-5 (5-3, 2-2).

Games of the Future is an innovative international tournament of 21 disciplines held in Kazan from February 21 to March 3, 2024. More than 2,000 athletes from around the world are taking part in the competition.

The Games of the Future combine competitions in the physical and digital domains, ‘phygital’ (physical + digital), testing athletes’ skills in the real and virtual worlds.
