Basketball player Cakarevic: I was thinking about ending my career, but then got invited to Games of the Future
Serbian professional basketball player Marko Cakarevic, who currently plays for Partizan Esports, the esports division of Serbian sports club Partizan Belgrade, has confirmed that he postponed his retirement to take part in Games of the Future.
“This is true. When they invited me to try my hand at phygital basketball, I had already left the team, but kept training hard and worked alone. At the same time, I was thinking about changing my occupation entirely. However, in order to perform adequately first at the qualifying stage, and then at the Games of the Future, I postponed this decision,” he told RT.
The sportsman also admitted that he picked up a gamepad for the first time right before the launch of Games of the Future.
“You know, I’m a fan of the PES football series and I’m quite good at it. I like playing, but I had never even tried simulators for other sports. In fact, I picked up a gamepad for the first time. I tried to play a few basketball matches, but not much worked out. I realized that it was not my cup of tea. Thank God we have guys who are professionals in this field. And I’d rather demonstrate my skills on the floor,” he said.
