The Russian Winter Festival – an annual event that highlights a variety of folk art and craft and is full of traditional food, music and gifts – has kicked off in Moscow
A giant coin symbolizing the Russian rouble has been unveiled at the very heart of the Russian capital. The coin weighs 150 kilograms and is 1.5 meters high.
“This is only the first of the things on the list that are planned to be put on during the festival that kicked off at the beginning of December. Until it ends January 19, organizers won’t reveal all their secrets, but promise to create giant ice sculptures and pastries,” Moscow’s Central District officials said.
Visitors attending the festival can enjoy a folk fair where they can purchase traditional Russian souvenirs, unique presents for the upcoming holidays, and take part in entertaining programs and various master-classes.
