Dubbed by some as “the bastard child of Skype and chatrooms” and even “endless online freak show” the new random video chat service Chat Roulette draws thousands of users daily and is remarkably addictive.
The service is praised for giving users a chance to stumble upon somebody or someone they would never encounter in their normal lives. Critics say it is a stressful social experience and is full of offensive content, just like any website bowing to anonymity.
The minimalist website turned out to be brainchild of Russian school student Andrey Ternovsky. RT caught up with him for an interview.
