“Russia-US spy scandal would make a wonderful comedy novel”
“There is this almost media fixation of the Mata Hari sexy spy. When I was doing spy novels everybody said, “Sexy spy – you must be joking!”. Very few professional intelligence officers I’ve ever met were middle-aged women in tweed skirts. I mean there’s not actually anything like Anna Chapman,” Forsyth said in an interview with RT.
“I take a light heart of her and the whole episode because I don’t think any real damage was done to the USA or to Britain,” the author added.
When asked what sort of novel the spy scandal could make he said, “The story would make a wonderful comedy novel, almost a comedy of heroes.”
