Bradford fire: Hundreds of homes evacuated as ‘flames & thick smoke’ engulf town

Hundreds of homes in Bradford were evacuated after a fire broke out at a former mill. Locals have been warned that the flames are “getting worse,” as firefighters try to bring the inferno under control.
Nearly 100 firefighters are currently tackling the blaze at Drummonds Mill, on Lumb Lane in Manningham, which started just before 11.30 am in the basement of a four story building.

Eye-witnesses accounts from the scene claim the fire is “getting worse.”
A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said: “This is a four-story building used for storage and the fire is in the basement. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the fire, as well as one hose reel and one large jet.”
