Clothing brand Ralph Lauren has promised that Team USA’s uniform for the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Russian city of Sochi will not be produced in China.

“Ralph Lauren promises to lead the conversation within our industry and our government addressing the issue of increasing manufacturing in the US," the company said in statement.

The iconic fashion house faced severe criticism after the ‘Made in China’ label was discovered on the country’s kits for the upcoming Games in London.

The US Senators were outraged by the Chinese-made gear, with the leader of the Democratic majority, Harry Reid saying that the best thing to do is “take all the uniforms and put them in a big pile and burn [them].”

Ralph Lauren’s contract with the US Olympic Committee will be in force until in 2020.
