Swedish midfielder Mattias Ozgun was accidentally injured after being poked in the eye by a teammate who he was set to replace on the field.

The unusual incident took place in the Swedish second tier between Degerfors and Oster, when the visiting side decided to bring Ozgun onto the pitch to replace midfielder Axel Lindahl.

As he approached his teammate who was standing on the sideline, the two attempted a simple high five, which failed miserably as Lindahl unintentionally poked his finger into Ozgun’s eye.

The footballer who was expected to enter the game turned around to ask for an immediate substitution, as he needed medical assistance to check his injured eye.

Ozgun had to leave the field without spending one second in the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
