Khanty-Mansiysk in Siberia is one of the largest oil-producing regions of the world. The city of Khanty-Mansiysk, the capital of the region, looks surprisingly clean and new, with modern European style buildings. It boasts one of the best biathlon stadiums in Russia, and its own television station “Urga”. Khanty-Mansiysk got its name after the two native peoples of the region: the Khanty and the Mansi. The viewers have a chance to visit the Khanty village and see their traditional way of life. Reindeer provide everything for the indigenous population. The traditional Khanty dish is stroganina, raw frozen reindeer meat, and their usual transport is reindeer sledge, just like the one that Santa Claus has!
