Government Sponsored STD Infections, $10Bn Military Boondoggle & California’s Drought Nightmare (E009)
On this episode of Watching the Hawks, Tyrel Ventura and Tabetha Wallace discuss a new investigation by the Los Angeles Times into the $10 billion spent on failed missile defense systems. Tyrel and Tabetha then talk about a lawsuit brought forward against Johns Hopkins University concerning a venereal disease research program that saw Guatemalans purposefully infected with syphilis and gonorrhea. RT correspondent Lindsay France then reports on the mandatory water restrictions that have been implemented by California Governor Jerry Brown to preserve as much water as possible during the state’s historic drought. Tyrel and Tabetha then speak with Doug Parker, Director of the California Institute for Water Resources, about solutions to the water crisis in the state, and go on to discuss the announcement from Rolling Stone magazine that it is retracting a story from December about a woman who was allegedly raped at the University of Virginia.
