Episode 243

The world has woken up to the maldistribution of land in South Africa nearly 30 years after the collapse of apartheid, but not in a good way. Both Donald Trump and his occasional carer Theresa May have put in their tuppence worth over the declaration by the government, the ANC government, that several election mandates later something is to be done about the fact that most of South Africa continues to be owned by the same small section of the population who owned it before – white people. How did it come to this, and what exactly is the ANC’s plan? Our first guest knows. He is a research fellow at the London School of Economics, McDonald Lewanika, so, we invited him into the Sputnik studio to explain.

“Jet” was a famous Gladiator back in the day and she got the thumbs up from folks all over the country when she starred in the famous ITV series in the 1990s. But her battles continued long after she left that arena. She has suffered bulimia herself and battled stereotyping, body-shaming and manipulation of girls and women ever since. Her work has borne fruit in the latest announcement by Cosmopolitan magazine that they too are entering that ring. They could prove an unbeatable combination. So, we invited Diane Youdale into the studio to tell us about the fight.
