Episode 153

The Rt Hon Peter Lilley MP is a long serving member of parliament, a former Tory cabinet minister who served under both Margaret Thatcher and John Major and, once a contender for the prime-ministership itself. Economically conservative and a former Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, we invited him into the Sputnik studio this week in order to seek his counsel on where Britain is headed in the wake of the Chancellor's Autumn Statement and in the face of the siren calls of ruin all around.

And “Grime” is a genre of music that emerged in the early 2000s and has since been described as “the heir to Rock against Racism.” So, naturally we wanted to know more. Hattie Collins is an acclaimed writer for The Guardian and The Sunday Times, and has just written a book called “This is Grime.” She has championed the genre as well as documenting the scene since its early days, and was therefore the obvious go-to person to hop aboard Sputnik and tell us more about the music and its culture.
