Israel celebrated Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year – in 2012 amid several dire security concerns. Nearly the entire Middle East witnessed rioting in the last few weeks, sparked by an infamous US-made video blaspheming the Prophet Mohammad. Tensions are also rising in Israel, though no major protests have taken place yet. And many Israelis fear that war with Iran is also looking more and more likely. How do these different concerns affect life in Israel, and in its most important city, Jerusalem? We ask the mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat.
