A new era for Russia’s parliament

The Russian State Duma has begun a new parliamentary session – the second since the last election. The new Parliament weathered several storms in its first nine months: A strike in Italy, several hotly debated bills and the expulsion of one of its MP’s. The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) recently published a report critical of Russia that condemned, among other things, the State Duma. Does their criticism of the Russian legislature hold up? How will Moscow respond to its PACE critics? We’ll discuss the controversy with State Duma Chair Sergey Naryshkin.
