Kyrgyzstan unrest

CSTO General Secretary - Nikolay Bordyuzha

Today our guest is Nikolay Bordyuzha. Violence broke out in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh on June 11 and lasted for several days, causing the deaths of hundreds of people. A hundred thousand ethnic Uzbeks had to flee their homes. Though the conflict has been suppressed without international interference, the situation remains unstable in the country and is threatening the stability of the entire Central Asian region. What should the Collective Security Treaty Organization do in this situation? Why has its reaction been rather passive so far? We will discuss these issues with the CSTO’s General Secretary.
