Into the indigenous

Timothy Allen – Photographer, BBC 'Human Planet'

Back in the 1970s and ’80s, travel photography was in its golden age. Photographers worked hard searching the world for their future masterpieces, and viewers repaid by flooding exhibitions and hunting for National Geographic issues. But now when every smartphone has a digital camera, quite a few professionals preserve those old-fashioned travel photography traditions. One of those who belong to that rare breed is in my studio today – Timothy Allen, best-known for his work with the BBC “Human Planet” documentary series.
