Gazprom: Expanding operations

Sergey Kupriyanov – Gazprom Spokesman

The first consignment of Russian gas has made its way to Germany underneath the Baltic Sea. The ambitious and costly Nord Stream pipeline is finally up and running. From now on the gas will be delivered directly to Western Europe, bypassing troublesome transit nations. Gazprom is expanding operations in both Europe and Asia. Now, Nord Stream’s twin pipeline is to be built under the Black Sea. And a few projects in the Far East are underway, too. Yet many fear Russia just wants a monopoly and will use Gas as a political instrument. So will Gazprom’s share really rocket once all the projects are completed? Or can the critics sleep peacefully? We’re asking Gazprom’s spokesman, Sergey Kupriyanov.
