Lonely voice in Russian cinema

Aleksandr Sokurov – Director

Today my guest is Aleksandr Sokurov.
This year’s Venice Film Festival has been a great success for Russian cinema.
The movie “Faust”, directed by Aleksandr Sokurov, was awarded the Golden Lion – the festival’s top prize.

Critics say that’s a sign of the industry’s revival, but the hero himself is not so optimistic. Alexander thinks the logistics of filmmaking in Russia still leaves much to be desired. And he joins us from St. Petersburg to explain why.
