Exploring and protecting Baikal

­Today our guest is Mikhail Slipenchuk. The world’s biggest repository of fresh water, Lake Baikal, is under threat. The first danger comes from a cellulose factory, polluting the pure water with lethal dioxins. The second comes from the energy companies who could harm the ecosystem of the lake for the sake of producing several more kilowatts. Last year Moscow adopted a special program to protect the lake.
