Europe: confronting the migration challenge

­Today our guest is Thorbjorn Jagland, the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe.

The popular uprisings in the Arab world led to bloody conflicts, some of which are still going on. The poor humanitarian situation in the region made thousands of people flee their homes and sail overseas, to safe and happy Europe. But the Old World was not prepared for that. The problem has so scared the Europeans that some governments have restricted their border controls and are thinking of suspending the Schengen agreements, commonplace for the EU. Are we witnessing the end of the united Europe and if not, how is the Old World going to respond to the challenge? Here is the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland.
