Drug Control: The Russian Experience

There are few places on Earth untouched by drug smuggling. Over the last two decades, Afghanistan became the world leader of heroin production and exports, and a perpetual thorn in the side of its neighbors. Russia isn’t untouched, of course, as it is one of the smugglers’ main destinations. How do Russian authorities cope with the drug threat? Can they help settle the problem in Afghanistan? We’ll discuss all this with the head of the Federal Drug Control Service, Victor Ivanov.
