Speaking at the G-8 summit in Deauville, French President Nicolas Sarkozy looked very content. Russia is ready to buy two helicopter carriers from France – a long-anticipated, but controversial deal, backed by President Dmitry Medvedev. It will cost Russia more than a billion euros, but is likely to improve its relations with France. Will it be the first step in rejecting the remaining vestiges of distrust between Russia and NATO?
